Safe Dealing on BuildTom
Check the item, the person and the agreement
BuildTom helps people find and contact advertisers. Ad review is not a guarantee of an item, identity or transaction. Take time to verify the details before paying or handing over goods.

Verify who you are dealing with
Check the advertiser's details and authority to sell or rent the item. For a company, confirm that the person can act on its behalf. A profile, ad or badge is not a substitute for your own checks.

Inspect before you agree
Check condition, quantity, specifications and ownership documents where relevant. For equipment and machinery, arrange an appropriate inspection. Agree on collection, delivery, rental duration and returns before committing.
Keep control of payment
Confirm the recipient and terms independently. Do not rush into a deposit because of pressure, unusually low prices or a request to use an unfamiliar link. BuildTom does not hold marketplace item payments in escrow or guarantee a private deal.
Meet and exchange safely
Choose a suitable location and safe time. Let someone you trust know your arrangements. Do not proceed if the situation feels unsafe; for an immediate threat, contact the appropriate local emergency service.

Protect your account and records
Never share a password or one-time login code. Keep the ad reference, agreed terms, messages and receipts. Share only information needed for the deal; do not upload unrelated identity or financial documents in a report.

Report a suspicious ad or problem
Use the report form for misleading details, prohibited content, impersonation or suspected misuse. Include the ad reference and relevant evidence. Reporting supports platform review; it does not promise recovery of money or replace contacting the appropriate authority.
